Salmon review by Stephanie

I had the pleasure of enjoying the Salmon. It was moist and cooked to perfection over a wood grill. This restaurant has surpassed my expectations for food and ambience. My favorite.

20 oz Chateaubriand review by Adrienne

We tried Maro for the first time last night; and it was EVERYTHING a restaurant should be! We are very health conscious and appreciated the DELICIOUS, fresh grass-fed meat, organic vegetables and ONLY olive oil used! Yesssss! We will be back again and again!!!! So grateful for a restaurant like this to exist!

Grilled Artichokes review by Adam

My wife and I have been coming to Maro for a few years now on a regular basis, but almost every weekend in the summer after we spend our morning walking the beach. Their artichoke is by far the best in OC, and they ALWAYS have it in stock, which is incredible. The service is also always top notch, and they know and put in our order as soon as they see us. They really know how to make you feel welcomed and set an atmosphere. We highly recommend Maro, and often tell people to try and bring friends and family here when they're in town.

Bone-in Filet Mignon review by Adam

Maro Wood Grill is a hidden gem, an absolute must have and pretty much a mandatory stop anytime we find ourselves in the Laguna Beach area or passing through on the PCH in either direction. The team there are a pleasure to be around. They are super friendly and accommodating, always welcoming and sharing bright positive energy. The owner and host, Alex, always does a stellar job making us feel like family and helping to make fantastic recommendations and checking in to make sure we are having a great experience every time. Emilio, the head chef, is more than just a fabulous chef, whipping up top-notch dishes left and right, he is also absolutely hilarious and just an overall pleasure to be around. Don't even get me started on the food. Every single dish my family and I have tried at this lovely restaurant is basically to die for. The food alone will keep you coming back for more. Whether we come back to have our staple favorite dishes, or excited to explore other gems on the menu, we never leave disappointed. No matter how full and satisfied we are from each occasion, we're practically ready to schedule our next trip to our favorite spot. Whether you choose to sit in the ambient dining room or get to watch Emilio work his magic at the wood-fire grill, while sitting at the bar, this restaurant is an A1 choice for any occasion. Whether you want a quick bite at a neighborhood favorite with a family friendly environment and amazing food, or you want to celebrate a very special occasion with friends, family or colleagues, Maro Wood Grill is always at the top of the list and will not disappoint. I'm so very glad we found this restaurant years ago, while searching for the best food in the beautiful and prestigious Laguna Beach area. For those who aren't familiar with Laguna Beach, it's a very luxurious and picturesque area that sports a perfect balance between high end culture and immaculate views, while also having a homey vibe with family friendly options. And that's why Maro Wood Grill fits perfectly here. I honestly can't say enough good things about this restaurant, and I know my family feels the same way, as does pretty much anyone who is lucky enough to share in this amazing experience. From the food, to the staff, to the customer service, to the ambience, to the experience, to the location, everything about this restaurant is top-notch and is a guarantee to have you coming back. As I've previously mentioned, everything on the menu is delicious and will have you coming back for more. When you pair the highest quality ingredients, with fantastic dish selections, and perfect execution and cooking every time, you really can't go wrong with any choice on the menu. There hasn't been one single dish I've tried that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. That being said, my favorite dishes are: Any of the grilled vegetable appetizers are to die for! My family's favorites are the Grilled Artichoke, Grilled Okra, and the Grilled Shishito Peppers. Though you can't go wrong with any of the the grilled veggies and the delicious dipping sauces they come with. I didn't even know I liked artichoke and okra until I came here and now I love it and could eat it from Maro every day. And I'm not exaggerating. Same goes for the Gnocchi, Sausage and Peppers and Mushroom Soup. These are dishes I typically don't go for even at the finest of Italian restaurants. I'm more of a steak guy personally. However, I'm so happy my mom ordered them and shared with me, because now we get them every time. These dishes are absolutely mouth watering and delectable. Whether these are selections you'd normally love, or something you might never have tried, I recommend giving them a taste because chances are you'll be ordering seconds! The Empanadas are a great snack or appetizer. I go for the beef ones since I'm not a big fan of cheese. The beef empanadas are delicious as is the dipping sauce. And my sister, who loves cheese, is a big fan of the other empanada selections on the menu. My family is also big fans of the Maro Burger! Now for the star of the menu and what I originally came for, the entrees. If you like steak, you can't go wrong with any selection on the menu. You can always expect the highest quality cuts and ingredients, with top notch execution on the delicious wood-fire grill... my mouth is watering just thinking about it. My personal favorites are the Rib-Eye Cap, the Filet Mignon, and the Rack of Lamb. All of these come grilled to perfection with delicious Chimichurri Sauce and Wood-Fire Grilled Vegetables. I'm not even sure where else you can get a rib-eye cap cut, let alone one grilled up on wood-fire right in front of you. Emilio works his magic like clock work, and if you're lucky enough to sit at the bar in front of the grill, you'll get to see the show first hand and might even be lucky enough to catch a few jokes. As I said before, the guy is hilarious and an absolute pleasure to be around. What a talent! And Alex will be right there as well making sure everything is running smoothly and that everyone is having a great time! If you'd like a nice wine pairing to go with your meal, definitely ask Alex for a recommendation as they have an amazing selection and he won't steer you wrong. The deserts are also fabulous. I'd personally recommend the Flourless Chocolate Cake, Served with Organic Berries and Cream. My mom has a strict Gluten-Free diet due to allergies, so the fact that she has so many options to choose from here and loves everything she tries is such a blessing! I honestly can't say enough good things about this restaurant, the staff and the experience. At this point I can tell this review is getting pretty lengthy so I'll wrap up with this synopsis. First off, go to Maro, you won't be disappointed! Secondly, Alex, Emilio and the staff are top notch! The ambience is great whether around the bar for a family friendly environment or in the dining room for more formal occasions. Everything on the menu is amazing, my favorites are the appetizers and the steaks. Weather you follow my recommendations or just go to explore and craft your own experience, I can pretty much guarantee you will have an amazing time and will be coming back for more. Only thing left for me is to set up a bed there so I can move in and eat Maro all day every day! Haha just kidding... kinda :) If you get the opportunity to stop in, let the staff know that Adam says hello, and have a lovely time, experiencing some of the best food around!

Grilled Spanish Octopus Salad review by Kathleen

This is a delicious and creative combination of ingredients. The octopus is tender and very flavorful. The salad is large enough to share or it can be a meal in itself. Perhaps a accompanied by the delicious empanadas.
